SEASON REQUIREMENTS

OSHL Teams:

  • Each association must provide the name and email address for their team/association to the League Registrar before the season begins.
  • The Team Registrar must submit All USA Hockey registration numbers  to the League Registrar before players and coaches start practice. This is a USA Hockey rule, no liability nor medical insurance will be available to your team until the numbers are claimed through your association’s USA Hockey portal.
  • Each Team Registrar is responsible to maintain the Registration Book for their team.
  • All OSHL teams must be rostered as Travel High School Division II Varsity and JV.
  • Athens, Miami, Dayton, and Newark Team Registrars need to send a link to their teams' roster(s) to the League Registrar as soon as it available, but no later than October 15 of current year.
  • CIHC must submit their link by November 15 of current year.
  • All rosters will be electronic and accessible by a link. When rosters are approved the League Registrar will send your team registrar your roster link. The same link will be good for the entire season and rosters are real time. Please be sure to check your roster via the link periodically to ensure that nothing has changed that shouldn’t have. Mid-Am and USA Hockey have the ability to redline players and coaches, so if any certifications expire or are not renewed in a timely fashion throughout the season, it is possible for Mid-Am or USA Hockey to remove that individual from the roster without warning. If an individual is redlined, he/she will be prohibited from participation until the situation is resolved and the redline is removed.
  • Please forward all current season USA Hockey numbers in an excel spreadsheet to the League Registrar ASAP. The spreadsheet format should be:

1.) First column - Current season VALID USAH number.

2.) Second column - The letter P if they are a player, a HC if they are a HEAD coach, an AC if they are an ASSISTANT coach, M if they are a manager, or V if they are a volunteer.

3) Third column – Participant’s last name.

4) Fourth column – Participant’s first name. Please note that anyone that will be on the ice with the team MUST be registered as a coach. USAH numbers with XX preceding the first three letters of the participant’s last name are volunteer registrations and do NOT permit on ice participation. There League Registrar will need a number for EVERYONE who is on the ice or has access to the players. SafeSport, background screens, and concussion certifications are required for all staff members that have access to or interaction with the players. These are also requirements for being listed on the official team roster. All of your board members should complete these three items, as well.

  • Any changes to the official roster must be submitted to the League Registrar no later than December 15th. I will then get them submitted to Mid-Am prior to December 31 for final approval.

  • You may only have 4 coaches or staff on your bench for a game. You can roster as many as you’d like.
  • If you are playing a NON USA Hockey team (OHSAA teams or out of state Federation teams) you will need an insurance waiver from USA Hockey or it will not be considered a sanctioned event by USA Hockey, which will mean there is no liability or medical insurance coverage for the game. To obtain this waiver, please secure a copy of the non-USAH team’s certificate of insurance (likely for the school) so that it may be forwarded to Mid-Am with the proper forms. Please let us know ASAP when you have one of these scheduled, so we may ensure the proper procedures are followed and forms are filed.
